I got a call from a client’s wife the other day that is battling to find her husband, the man who has EVERYTHING, a gift for Christmas.
Well, I started with the obvious; optics are one of the most important things a hunter can have and I recommended the Swarovski EL 10×42 but also informed her that they just launched the Swarovski EL Range which are so cool because they’re a binocular AND rangefinder all in one!
I then suggested, how about a nice backpack? Personally I LOVE the Courtney Haversack and it’s one of the favored backpacks of professional hunters because it’s quiet with leather buckle flaps and zippers, it’s palatable and makes for easy organization.
Because her husband is headed to Africa and hunts in warm climates (South America, Texas and Mexico) I told her that the favorite boot of the African PH’s is the Courtney boots -I prefer the “Selous” boot because of the added ankle support.
I then told her about the Filson Large-Wheeled-Duffel I’ve taken it all over the world and it’s stood the toughest tests and always holds up.
Well, her husband already had these things, so back to the drawing board… I was visiting with a man-friend who ‘has it all’ to get more ideas. He suggested a gift certificate to take a shooting course. I suggested either Safari Shooting School or Sportsman’s All-Weather All-Terrain Marksmanship Courses.
I also thought of purchasing him a state lifetime hunting license or a gift certificate to a restaurant that specializes in cooking wild game, maybe a nice smoker or a jerky maker.
It’s a daunting task to try and select a gift for the man who has it all, so if some of these suggestions aren’t what he wants or already has, I suggested to then simply ask him! Do you have any suggestions?
