I recall a dating scenario that made me realize that I MUST date a hunter. It was when a sweet man said to me: “Olivia, I would just love it if we could go to the river, put down a blanket and you could fish while I read a book”. Are you kidding me? Who would wear the britches in this situation?
That said, it’s easier for me, a woman, to find a man that hunts, but it’s not as easy for you single guys… for the sake of this blog I’m going to stereotype.
Maybe she likes to shop, or take long walks at the park, or go to the ballet, or enjoys wine-tasting. That’s okay! You may not enjoy those things as much, but find ways to meet in the middle.
Everyone loves to laugh and I’m sure that both of you would enjoy a good comedy club. Cooking together is always fun and can be turned into a romantic evening as you brush by each-other in the kitchen –just be careful with the knives and hot popping oil (especially if scantily clad). Nature hikes and paddling a canoe are great options too, but be sure to bring a pick nick basket full of wine, meats, cheese and crackers and lots of mosquito spray and sunscreen to ensure her comfort (also check her shoe & clothing choices too) –she’ll likely fall in love if you’ve thought every detail out.
At the end of the day it’s about respecting one another; treat her like you’d like to be treated and be considerate of her favorite pastimes. But if you’re like me, don’t give up! Women are the fastest growing segment in the hunting industry and your lady-huntress may be waiting for you!
Do you have any dating ideas in dating a non-hunter?

After my divorce, I made a list of the most important things that I wanted in a woman. Being a outdoorswoman made the list, but wasn’t a showstopper. The sweet woman I found didn’t turn out to be an deep woods girl, but I sure do appreciate her understanding and support of my hunting interests.
