I was recently asked if I would be willing to test a new smartphone case, the LifeProof case. Obviously the person who asked me to test this case knows my prowess at breaking things. I received the case and instructions to first watch the videos on their site before I tried to install and test the case. The videos are pretty basic, and do a thorough job at explaining what to do before you trust your phone to this case.
I’m rough on equipment and gear, and I rely on my phone to keep up on social media, as a gps/compass, game center and occasionally to call home and let my wife know I’m going to be late. So, when anyone asks me to trust my expensive all-in-one mobile office to their case, I get nervous. I tried the LifeProof case and must admit I was smitten with it. The biggest selling point of the LifeProof is that it is 100% waterproof, so far I have to agree with them. In my extensive testing I have had mine with me out in the rain, crammed in a sweat soaked shirt pocket and my phone has remained bone dry. Another great feature that I love is the accessories available with it. My favorite has to be the ram ball compatible mount. Now I can use my phone as a backup camera and help upload great videos to social media that much sooner.
I could end this blog now and tell you that the LifeProof case is 100% perfect, but I can’t. I’d give it a 95% though, the only area it falls short is the charging port. I’m frugal, or as some say I’m cheap, and I have bought after-market chargers for my phone. The after-market chargers I have do not work at all with this phone, though the charger that came with my phone fits like a glove. If you’re like me, and you have after-market chargers just be prepared that they might not work with this case. If the only complaint I have is about my cheap chargers not fitting perfectly I have to say that this case is amazing!
Give them a try and I guarantee that this may be the last case you ever buy.
